Frequently Asked Questions

Why was QEC created?

QEC was created by Dr Melanie Salmon, a medical practitioner and Gestalt psychotherapist, who became frustrated when many of her patients were getting sicker within mainstream work. She left both General Practice in the UK, and her Gestalt private practice, to “find another way.”

How can QEC help me?

QEC is a practical tool that can help us to become the person we would truly like to be, reaching our full potential. It is particularly effective in helping to ‘clear the baggage’ from our past, which often manifests in repeated, unwanted behaviour patterns that impact ourselves and others. Much of the cutting-edge work being done by QECs founder, Dr Melanie Salmon, is in the area of past trauma and it’s here that QEC is particularly effective. However, there is no limit to the ways in which QEC can help. If you suffer from stress, anxiety, depression, grief, phobias or fear, QEC can help. It is also a powerful way to improve relationships and remove ‘blocks’ to performance, both in the workplace and in sport.

What is needed from me?

Besides a brief indemnity questionnaire that I ask you to fill in initially for either modality, to participate in QEC, you will need to be open minded and self motivated. Whilst you can feel tired after a session, during it you should find it incredibly rewarding, empowering and enlightening.

How many QEC sessions will I need?

QEC is relatively fast result therapy because it works at the subconscious level of mind, changing limiting beliefs and healing traumas. It is suggested that an initial 4 sessions at weekly intervals are tried, with review on the 4th session. Ongoing work can be discussed and planned at this stage. On average QEC takes anything from 4-20 sessions or longer, depending on the personal trauma work needed.

Is there an age restriction for QEC?

Whilst a few QEC therapists take children under 16 yrs, I practice with clients aged 16 yrs and over.

What makes QEC so effective?

QEC is the culmination of a lifetime of Dr Salmon’s searching for the best ways to heal. Combining cutting edge neuroscience with the principles of Gestalt Psychotherapy (focusing on feelings in the present moment), QEC adopts the practices that have been proven to work. No pharmaceutical medications are needed. No need to refine your meditation skills or sit with a therapist for years. It’s a unique and clinically-usable approach that works rapidly to change long-held limiting beliefs and heal past trauma, by “rewiring” the neural pathways in the brain.

Why is it called QEC?

QEC is short for Quantum Energy Coaching. The first part of the name stems from the process by which we create our reality, every second of every day, as explained by the laws of quantum physics. And, having emerged from two decades of Gestalt psychotherapy, QEC is partly a coaching modality in the way our practitioners work with you on the issues you face. Finally, everything is energy. Energy connects one thing to everything else and so it is fitting that the word acts as the bridge to connect the quantum and coaching concepts.

ABOUT ENERGY HEALING

Healing works on all levels of Being – Mind, Body & Spirit. It is an elegant and simple approach which complements all other healing modalities and medical treatments.

The word 'healing' simply means 'the process of restoring health'. As healing is an holistic treatment, healers always address the whole person, not simply the symptoms being experienced. Healers are trained to attune to the Source of Healing energy, which is then transmitted through their hands for the benefit of the client.

A healer’s intention is exclusively on the restoration of health and wellness. Please be aware that healers will never diagnose, which by law we are not allowed to do. Like any therapy it is more beneficial to have several sessions. I would recommend trying one and then 4-6 sessions.

Which type of therapy should I book, or should I try both?

QEC is a talk therapy, whereas healing is relaxing and non participatory - I do all the work! Healing can be very useful initially if a client is unable to connect into their emotions, feels ‘frozen’, traumatised, has too much brain chatter or simply doesn’t feel up to talk therapy.

Energy healing works with layers of consciousness (we describe it like peeling an onion!) and, in my experience, some layers can be healed unconsciously. However, eventually there will then be a layer where an issue does need to be understood first, before it can be acknowledged, understood, released and restored, hence QEC. So, for a more stress free recovery, a combination of both modalities is a lovely way to go forward. Each client is unique and so I would suggest trying each modality and then discussing how and when to put in a relaxing healing session.
